5 Questions Students Have About Tuition Insurance
5 Questions Students Have About Tuition Insurance pixabay.com 1. What is tuition insurance? Tuition insurance isnât a particularly common thing for most college students. In fact, it usually benefits the parents more so than it benefits students. In a nutshell, tuition insurance will reimburse tuition costs (or partial tuition costs) should the student drop out of school. Usually the students getting tuition insurance are ones with pre-existing medical conditions that could force withdrawal from school. Because many schools donât have regulated reimbursement policies in the case of student injury or death, tuition insurance alleviates the stress involved in paying hefty amounts for higher education. 2. Who usually gets tuition insurance? As stated, most of the students who get their tuition insured have pre-existing medical conditions or a medical history that could force a withdrawal from their school. Typically, the parents who choose tuition insurance are paying a private institution with large fees. Itâs usually assumed that the paying of such fees comes directly from the parents. With the parents paying such a large cost for their child to attend school, potential withdrawal from that school could result in a lot of money lost. This happens because many federal student loans allow discharge of student debt if one becomes disabled or dies. However, private student loans do not have the same rules and do not have such discharges of debt. 3. How much does it usually cost? Tuition insurance varies based on the amount of tuition paid. Essentially, tuition insurance usually works as a percentage of tuition costs. Tuition refund insurance can cost anywhere from 1 percent to 5 percent of total tuition costs. Depending on the overall amount, this means that the insurance could cost anywhere between $100 to $1,000. Because the range is quite large, it would be wise to consult with a tuition insurance provider to calculate the estimated cost of tuition insurance based on your fees. Keep in mind that tuition insurance refunds will look different depending on various things like credit hours, risk involvement, and coverage. 4. What does it cover? Most tuition insurance will cover things like forced withdrawal due to illness or injury, the death of a student, or the death of a parent. Different types of tuition insurance may also cover things like voluntary withdrawal, mental health withdrawal, relocation, or academic suspension. However, there are exceptions to this rule to which the insurance wonât apply. Some of these cases may be intentional self-injury or withdrawals due to substance abuse. Be sure to talk with your provider about full coverage versus partial coverage. The amounts refunded will likely vary based on the potential events and how much the school refunds. Because the school will likely refund a certain amount should any incidents occur, the tuition insurance percentages may look different than initially proposed. 5. Do I need it? Many students have never heard of tuition insurance simply because it isnât a common or necessary thing. Because most 17-21 year olds are generally healthy and havenât acquired major illnesses or diseases, they have little to fear about forced withdrawal from school. Many students also attend large public universities and receive fair amounts of aid in terms of grants, scholarships, and loans. It isnât particularly common for parents to pay extreme amounts of tuition fees each year. If youâre planning for your future college career and tuition insurance hasnât come up, the likelihood that you need it is quite low. Now that you have a taste of what tuition insurance is, you can more aptly decide whether you need it or not. However, deciding to get tuition insurance should be a discussion for everyone involved in the college process. Itâs best to speak to a real tuition insurance provider about what rates will be charged and what the insurance covers. Make sure you talk explicitly about your concerns and what you want your insurance to cover to find the best tuition insurance plan for you. Much like your investment into your education itself, tuition insurance is something that should be thought about thoroughly. When studying, you donât want your time or your money to go to waste.

italki Team Language Challenge Week 5 Update
italki Team Language Challenge Week 5 Update The italki team is taking the 2015 New Years Language Challenge How much Chinese can they learn in 20 hours? 3 members of the team at italki are taking the language challenge to improve their skill in Mandarin. Each of them will have 20 hours of lessons between January and February. Can you do better than them? Check out their original Public Video Pledges that they made at the beginning of the Challenge here. Week 5 Updates Aimé, Intern Week 5 I did it! I finished all 20 hours of the italki Language Challenge, and I finished early! It was hard, and sometimes I really had to force myself to make it to my sessions, but you know, it was worth it. Since I was a bit rushed, it was hard for me to find time to study on my own and improve between sessions, so I think the others will be able to make use of the time left to improve even more. I didnt make my original goal of having a conversation in Chinese, but I really mastered my introduction. When I first started, I could hardly say a single thing, and I know I still need to improve on my listening, but in one of my last sessions, my teacher told me, You know, you just spoke Chinese for a whole minute. I didnt say a thing that was all you. I feel so proud of my progress. I want to encourage everyone else to keep going and find the time for your sessions. Put in the time. I gotta say, its definitely effective. Josie, Services Week 5 I have now completed 17 hours! I have three more sessions and will be finished on Saturday. However, I didnt complete my goals for the week. Its been a hectic week, and I really have been terrible at making new vocabulary flash cards For this week, since I will complete my sessions, I want to make sure I write down all of my new vocab. Its probably close to 100 new words I need to write down and learn, but Im confident that I can do it! I plan to reward myself with REST! I will take a few days off from having sessions, and maybe have some chocolate To all the other challengers, I want to say, Keep going! You are close! Even if you feel like you havent improved, you definitely have. Its definitely worth sticking it out until the end. Karthik, Data Scientist Week 5 (Note: I posted this after I made my video intro which I did late last week) I have completed 10 hours! I took about 3 hours worth of lessons this week. I almost met my goals for this week. I wanted to get to 5 hours, so Im 80% there. My new goal is to do 10 hours this week. I will reward myself with ice cream if I reach this goal! To anyone else struggling to fit in your 20 hours, look how far I am from my goal. But, Im not giving up. If you have the time this week, see if you can surprise yourself and meet your goals. italki Team Language Challenge Week 5 Update The italki team is taking the 2015 New Years Language Challenge How much Chinese can they learn in 20 hours? 3 members of the team at italki are taking the language challenge to improve their skill in Mandarin. The Central Dogma of Biology is a Myth
The Central Dogma of Biology is a MythThe central dogma of biology is that the genes govern our life, and there is no life without these genes. And because this is the central dogma of biology, it has an effect on the whole of life. For example, some doctors who use certain types of antibiotics see a rise in their death rates. This is because of the fact that they come in contact with the central dogma of biology - an elephant cannot jump over a hurdle. So, there is a real incentive to use any antibiotics, because if they get rid of the bacteria, then you have absolutely nothing to worry about. That is why some doctors start prescribing them, because they know that they are killing the bad bacteria - not the good ones. However, they do nothing to kill the causes of the illness, which is the microbiota. This is particularly important for cancer patients. We know that the microbiota plays a role in maintaining our life, and that it can be destroyed by chemotherapy. However, there is no c ure for cancer, so it is highly unlikely that we will find a way to kill the central dogma of biology. Instead, we will continue to see cancer growing in numbers, because the microbiome will get worse. These essential components are not really understood, but are thought to be essential for a variety of functions. They help to keep the immune system healthy, by fighting off various types of infections, while also helping to ensure that the bacteria in the gut are under control. These bacteria are also known to maintain a balanced pH balance, which is important for the body to perform its functions properly. In other words, we have synthetic vitamins, which we take from a pill every day. However, the truth is that the benefits are not very great, because many of the essential vitamins are far too complex to digest, which leads to the problem of excess fat and other toxins that can be a cause of health problems. Other supplements, like B vitamins, don't even do what they say they do. Th ey just provide a temporary effect, whereas a well-balanced and healthy diet is what you need to be taking, because the most beneficial source of vitamins is going to be foods. If the central dogma of biology is true, then we should have to live in a state of starvation, because synthetic vitamins cannot even keep up with the amount of food we need to eat. Because of this, the central dogma of biology should be abandoned, because it is simply not working. The best thing that we can do for our health is to improve our diets, as it is easier to control our diet than the overall condition of our digestive systems. So, the central dogma of biology is utterly flawed and should be put aside. Instead, we should be looking at new ways to tackle our modern diseases, and some of them can be quite simple.
Online Period Lyrics Is Great Resource For Students
Online Period Lyrics Is Great Resource For StudentsMany students who are interested in taking a chemistry course will have a difficult time finding a good period-appropriate version of the course work that they will be required to do. Although many of the worksheets and test materials used in chemistry courses come from different times, it can be hard to find period-appropriate versions. Luckily, the Internet is an excellent source for finding online resources for students who need period materials for their chemistry courses. Students who are unfamiliar with the period themes for chemistry may be surprised at the variety of materials that are available.Students may also be surprised to find out that many period texts are available online, as they tend to be out of print. In fact, many period texts were published by major publishers before they were banned in most countries because of their religious or political overtones. These materials can still be used as regular text books, but they have been republished online and contain all of the material that students would need to take a class and pass the coursework.Students are often confused about the meaning of the period references, so it's important that they understand what they mean. It's best to check online for online resources that include these references, as most contain all of the information that the student needs. While the book may seem like it's old and hard to understand, the student will quickly realize that all of the words used in the period materials are very clearly spelled out, making it much easier to understand the phraseology.Because these period-appropriate worksheets and test materials are available for free, students are often quite happy to use them for a period-appropriate study guide. In addition to the fact that they are free, students have a wealth of other options. Online period texts make it easy to find a word or phrase that they want to use as part of their lab setting, and th ey usually contain quite a bit of information for students to understand. If students decide that they would like to change a lab question, they can easily do so with the help of the online resources. As long as the resources are available, they can easily find the answers to their questions. The materials are normally completely retyped, so any student can figure out the answers to the questions they are asking without the help of a teacher.Period-appropriate materials can help students better understand the information that they will be required to learn and take, making it much easier for them to complete their coursework. Because students are required to take a laboratory course and pass a lab, they are also required to do laboratory work, and many materials will contain detailed instructions on how to correctly perform laboratory procedures. The materials that are provided with the texts are designed to help students pass their labs, so it's important that they take advantage of these resources when they're ready to take a lab.Students may want to compare certain period materials with the online resources that they have access to. Although the online resources may not be as large as the book or CD that students purchased, they are easier to use and will help students understand the period material much easier. The fact that they are available for free will make them much more appealing to students who are trying to learn the material and understand it better, since they aren't going to have to pay for materials that they may not really need.
What is it Like to Attend Texas Southern University
What is it Like to Attend Texas Southern University The tutors behind Varsity Tutors are not just here to teach theyre sharing their college experiences as well. Krystal is a Houston tutor who specializes in Algebra tutoring, Chemistry tutoring, Earth Science tutoring, and several other subjects. She is a 2009 graduate of Texas Southern University with a Bachelors degree in Chemistry. Check out her review of Texas Southern University: VT: Describe the campus setting and transportation options. How urban or safe is the campus? Are there buses or do you need a car/bike? Krystal: The campus is small. There are many police officers and security personnel who are on bikes and who walk throughout campus. There are transportation carts driven by security personnel that travel along the main street of the campus. These carts offer free transportation to the various buildings on campus. There are designated pick-up and drop-off areas. Also, many students use their bikes to travel back and forth. VT: How available are the professors, academic advisers, and teaching assistants? Krystal: All the professors, academic advisers, and teaching assistants have office hours. But what I like most is the one-on-one attention and outside-of-office-hours attention that the professors and advisers are willing to give. The professors, advisers, and staff at Texas Southern University are willing to do whatever it takes to ensure that every student excels. VT: How would you describe the dorm life rooms, dining options, location, socialization opportunities with other students? Krystal: I lived on campus for a few years. I enjoyed the dorm life. I made many lifetime friends via dorm life. I lived in the apartments on campus, and the campus security and police station was across the street. Dorm life helped me come out of my shell. I learned a lot from the other students. The rooms were spacious enough for me. I had my own room, but I shared the kitchen, living room, and a bathroom with my roommate. My roommates and I are still close friends. There are many restaurants near the campus. However, the dining hall in the student center on campus offers a variety of dishes. The bookstore, vending machines, and restaurant kiosks are also located in the student center. The school issues a card that can be loaded and reloaded, and this card can be used to purchase meals and bookstore items. There are many organizations on campus. Getting involved is advised, as it will allow students to become more social. VT: Which majors/programs are best represented and supported? What did you study and why? Did the university do a good job supporting your particular area of study? Krystal: Students attend Texas Southern University from many areas around the globe. The College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, law school, and business school attract many students. The College of Education and College of Science and Technology also attract many students. The entire university is very diverse. I studied Pharmacy, Chemistry, and Environmental Toxicology. The Chemistry program was a passion of mine. It was my first major, and after changing my major several times, I went back to chemistry. The professors and staff in the Chemistry department are awesome. They helped me get internships and provided a strict study track to help me excel as a scientist. Texas Southern University did an excellent job in preparing me for my career. VT: How easy or difficult was it for you to meet people and make friends as a freshman? Does Greek life play a significant role in the campus social life? Krystal: At first, it was very difficult to meet people. I only met those who moved in to the dorm at the same time that I did. Dorm life helped me open up. I learned about the different organizations on campus and the different cultures that were all around me. I joined a sorority. It played a significant role in my social life. I was also active in many other organizations on campus. My sorority sisters and I spent a lot of time together. We still spend time together. One was actually my roommate for a couple of years. We still celebrate many of lifes moments with one another, and I am still active in my organization. Greek life also has a downside. The students must know that they are on campus for an education. My organization required a particular GPA in order to join, and an even higher GPA must be maintained. Therefore, we had to study and serve the community before anything else. VT: How helpful is the Career Centerand other student support services?Do many reputable companies recruit on campus? Krystal: The Career Center and Student Support Services are very helpful. They help with financial aid, dorm life, the life-away-from-home adjustment, tutoring services, career services, and anything that will help students while in school and once graduated. There are services to help students create resumes and classes to teach them how to get a desired job. Many reputable companies recruit on campus, including hospitals, oil and gas companies, engineering companies, education institutions, pharmaceutical companies, the American military. Various other companies recruit on the campus of Texas Southern University. VT: How are the various study areas such aslibraries, the student union, and dorm lounges? Are they over-crowded, easily available, spacious? Krystal: There are study areas in every building, including the dorms. They are not over-crowded. They are very spacious with easy access. I used the library a lot, and there are rooms of various sizes. In the student center, there are also study rooms. Every building on campus has available study rooms. These rooms have whiteboards and other resources to help students excel in their studies. VT: Describe the surrounding town. What kinds of outside establishments / things to do are there that make it fun, boring, or somewhere in between? To what extent do students go to the downtown area of the city versus staying near campus? Krystal: Houston is a beautiful city. There are many things to do. The campus is located very close to downtown, the museum district, and the medical center. There are many attractions surrounding the campus. The downtown area is a wonderful place to unwind and relax. The campus is about 10 minutes from downtown, and students can use the side streets to safely travel to the downtown area. There are coffee shops, reading rooms, and other small, cozy places to study in the area. The University of Houston is within walking distance, so many students study together. VT: How big or small is the student body? Were you generally pleased or displeased with the typical class sizes? Krystal: The campus is small, and there are small class sizes. I like the small classes. It allows the professor to have more time with each student. The university has a total undergraduate enrollment of about 7,000. VT: Describe one memorable experience with a professor and/or class. Perhaps one you loved the most or one youregretthe most. Krystal: I have had the opportunity to have many wonderful experiences with my professors. My most memorable experience was with my research professor. We were researching carbon nanotubes and their toxicology. He had the career speech with me. His words guided me to the career that I have currently. He changed my life. I am very appreciative. Should I Go to Florida State University
Should I Go to Florida State University The tutors behind Varsity Tutors are not just here to teachtheyre sharing their college experiences as well. Matthew is an Orlando tutor and 2016 graduate of Florida State University. He holds a bachelors degree in economics and finance and tutors several subjects, including algebra tutoring, economics tutoring, and writing tutoring. Check out what Matthew had to say about his time at Florida State University: Describe the campus setting and transportation options. Matthew: Florida State University had the public transportation options that one would expect from an urban campus. I was able to take advantage of the university-operated bus system, which took students across campus and to certain apartment communities. I was also able to take advantage of the municipal bus system, which visited other apartment communities and some shopping centers. I felt safe on campus, due in large part to certain university-operated safety features such as Safe Ridea shuttle service that would pick up students anywhere on campus if they ever felt unsafe while walking at night. Although a car is not at all necessary for attending class, it may be helpful for securing off-campus employment, since many of the nearby job opportunities exist in the surrounding suburbs, which do not have public transportation services. How available are the professors, academic advisers, and teaching assistants at Florida State University? Matthew: Since Florida State University is a large, public university, it is often difficult to get one-on-one attention in popular classes, which may have hundreds of students. This is especially true of online classes. In fact, for one of my accounting courses which was only offered online, I needed to provide my professor with more than three weeks of lead time before securing a thirty-minute appointment to review a previous exam. However, it is not impossible to form relationships with professors, especially through school-sponsored organizations. Academic advisers can be just as busy during certain times of the year, and, even if they are available, their advice is extremely depersonalized due to their large work load. Students are largely on their own when it comes to course selection. As with professor availability, there are exceptions to thisI was in the honors program, which provided me with additional advising opportunities, and I found them much more useful than general a dvising. I don't recall having difficulty scheduling appointments with teaching assistants, but many classes do not have them. How would you describe the dorm liferooms, dining options, location, socialization opportunities with other students? Matthew: Florida State University offers a great social experience. I believe that all dorms are suite-style, which means that students do not have to suffer through community restrooms. There were plenty of dining halls, and they were open when I needed them. For students who know they want to become involved in Greek life, they will have no difficulty finding opportunities to do so. Which majors/programs are best represented and supported at Florida State University? Matthew: I felt as though Florida State University had great liberal arts programs, and many of my friends were involved with theatre or music. In the College of Business, it seemed as though the risk management and insurance program, the professional selling program, and the accounting program received a great deal of support and had great job placements. I studied economics and finance, due to my interest in transactional law. I felt supported in my areas of study. I felt most supported through advisers with whom I was connected through my extracurricular involvement. How easy or difficult was it for you to meet people and make friends as a freshman? Does Greek life play a significant role in the campus social life? Matthew: I did not have difficulty making friends at Florida State University. Housing does a great job of facilitating interaction among students in the residence halls, and I made friends with many of the people who lived on my floor. I was also involved with several extracurricular organizations, including a Greek organization. Greek life is prevalent at Florida State University, and students have plenty of opportunities to engage with campus through their fraternity or sorority. How helpful is the Career Centerand other student support services? Matthew: The Career Center does a great job, not only helping students find employment, but also helping students get the most out of their Florida State University experience. I worked closely with an Associate Director at the Career Center for much of my experience at Florida State University, who helped me secure a Fortune 100 Internship for the summer of my freshman year (among other opportunities). Reputable companies recruit through the Seminole Futures Career Fair, and I had many friends land top internships early on. However, it seemed as though the recruiters pulled from specific colleges and specific majors from within each college. How are the various study areas such aslibraries, the student union, and dorm lounges at Florida State University? Matthew: There are several libraries on campus, which have great, newly renovated study areas. However, they are extremely crowded, and it is often difficult to find a place to sit, let alone a space at a computer. If I did not have access to a printer and desktop computer at my apartment complex, I would have missed deadlines on several occasions. This is important to note before coming to Florida State University: one cannot depend on finding space at the library to study or print, especially during midterms and finals week. Describe the surrounding town. Matthew: Students are essentially limited to campus and the surrounding area for access to entertainment and social venues, which are limited compared to other areas of Florida. The only big-name entertainment that comes to the city is arranged by the university around Homecoming, so do not count on being able to go to a stadium concert more than once a semester, if that. However, the university does bring in notable classical artists on a somewhat regular basis. How big or small is the student body? Were you generally pleased or displeased with the typical class sizes? Matthew: The student body is large. Last I checked, the population, including graduate students, was around 60,000. I was displeased with the typical class size, which often filled auditoriums. However, most of my upper-division classes were delivered in a more personal environment. Describe one memorable experience with a professor and/or class. Perhaps one you loved the most or one youregretthe most. Matthew: I greatly enjoyed a business law course which I took during my sophomore year. I was lucky enough to be in an in-person sectionI was one of thirty in-person students, and I believe there were more than 300 online students. I met with my professor during office hours multiple times throughout the semester, and the professor was kind enough to write me a letter of recommendation for a summer program later on. Check out Matthews tutoring profile. The views expressed in this article do not necessarily represent the views of Varsity Tutors.
